evolution

For my storyboard i have decided to make a horror movie. I chose to do this because it is one of my favorite kind of films. My film has been done all in black and white as my original plan was to make this a flashback but chose not to but thought doing it in black and white would make it look a lot better then in colour. I looked at how good quality the film Sin City as it was all filmed in black and white and my original plan was too make a film noir kind of film but i thought that it would be a bit more original if the film was done as a horror to take after some of the early hammer films which were done in black and white.

The start is common in horror movies with showing victims at the start of the film. The main purpose of the film is showing how nobody is safe in their own home. Also the house by us got robbed the other week and thought i could be a good idea to use something like that. I also enjoyed the movie When A Stranger Calls, The Strangers and Black Christmas which are all horror based movies that are located in houses. Other classics movies that start of from a house Scream and even the Grudge. My house is quite old looking from the inside so i thought this would add to the Gothic part of my story. These kind of films were very dominant in the 90's and took a lot of money in in the 00's they have had some remakes of the classics from the 70s but are not as good as the original.

I have used different shots for different reasons.
Shot 1- is an establishing shot and it set up the location of the film this is common in most films

Shot 2- MS of the two characters this establishes who is going to be in the film or section

Shot 3- MS again it is showing the expression on there face as they have heard something from outside shows that the mood is changing

Shot 7- ECU of the keys i decided to do this was to show the panic setting as they are getting a bit scared of what is going to happen

Shot 11- Over the Shoulder shot of the couple looking out to find that nothing is there

after that the shots are used to build up the tension in the characters up until the last scenes where its meant to look like the person in the wardrobe is looking at them.


I did all my film at my house. The reason i choose this was because i wanted to keep it simple and didn't have to ask for permission from someone to use. I used my parents room and the my living room. I did this because i wanted to set the homely feel of the couple are settling down for a comfy night in but it is going to get bad for them .I did all the film on my Mobile phone. This was good for me as i was used to taking pictures on my phone even though the quality is not as good as most camera's.

Shot 2 -This is a high angle shot of the sofa on the couple it is an opening for the characters in the film


Shot 3 -This is a meduim shot of the couple they have just heard a noise from the front


Shot 4 -This is a long shot of couple going out to investigate


Shot 5 - This a meduim close up of sophia coming out the room


Shot 6- This is a high angle shot the couple going towards the door


Shot 7- Close up on the hand reaching for the keys


Shot 8- Extreme close up on his trying to find the right key


Shot 9- Another ECU of the key going into the door


Shot 10- Meduim Shot of the front of the lawn where there is nothing to be seen



Shot 11- Meduim Shot of the couple looking in shock from behind

idea for my photographic storyboard

I have choosen to do a horror for my storyboard.

The plot for the film will be that a young couple are having a date at the ones house. They are about to settle down to watch a film when they here a knock at the door. When they go to investiagte there is nobody there they are about to settle back down when they here banging upstairs and go to investigate it. They seem tense as they are walking upstairs. As they go into the room they go to check one of the wardrobes and then as they open it the film ends with them looking scared into the wardrobe.
